Alton Towers Opens David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny: The Ride

Fans of David Walliams’ popular Gangsta Granny books can now immerse themselves in the fictional world and help Granny steal the Crown Jewels this summer, thanks to a new ride at Alton Towers theme park bringing the much-loved stories to life.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the ride, which has been two years in the making, is based on Walliams’ beloved children’s book about a bot named Ben who finds out his Granny is an international jewel thief.

The ride sees guests join Ben and Granny as they attempt the greatest heist in the history of the world- to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London.

Guests join the pair's exhilarating escapade in a multi-sensory ride that will twist and spin through the sewers and the streets of London before breaking into the Crown Jewels vault.

The ride, which has been given the seal of approval by the author when he took a behind-the-scenes look earlier this month, is just part of an area that has been transformed inside the popular Staffordshire park to reflect the popularity of Walliams' stories.

Other rides and attractions including the Royal Carousel, Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp, Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango, as well as the chance to pick up a bargain in character Raj’s Shop.

Families can also book an overnight stay in the new Gangsta Granny themed rooms in the Alton Towers Hotel. An interactive experience includes the chance to crack the vault code to receive special treats during your stay.
